Ensembles at Mt. Spokane High School

The Mt. Spokane Band Program offers a vast diversity in ensembles for all students to participate in.

Wind Ensemble – Scott Jones, Director

The Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band performing ensemble that is audition only. The Wind Ensemble performs at several contests and festivals throughout the school year. Since the high school has opened the Wind Ensemble has performed in Texas, Hawaii, Canada, and California.

Symphonic Band – Scott Jones, Director

The Symphonic Band is a large wind band whose members are in grades 9-12. The Symphonic Band serves to enhance student’s musicianship, tone production, and proficiency on their respective instrument. The Symphonic Band performs at several contests and festivals throughout the school year. The Symphonic Band has performed in California, Canada, Hawaii and Montana.

Percussion Class – Scott Jones, Director

The Percussion Class serves as a class dedicated the to all percussion students. The percussion class allows percussions to get specific instruction and detail in the realm of percussion performance. The Percussion Class works on Percussion Ensemble literature, Marching Band literature, and Wind Band literature. The Percussion students travel with the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band to contests and festivals. The percussion students at Mt. Spokane have had the privilege and opportunity to perform in several festivals and contests throughout the school year. Percussion students have performed in Texas, Hawaii, Canada, California, and Montana.

Jazz 1 – Scott Jones, Director

Jazz I is the premiere Jazz Ensemble at Mt. Spokane. Jazz I is an audition based group that performs at high profile jazz events around the country throughout the school year. Jazz I performs both classic and current jazz repertoire and has shared concerts and performances with some of the regions finest collegiate and high school Jazz Ensembles. Jazz I performs at several contests and festivals throughout the school year. Jazz I has had the opportunity to perform in Reno, Texas California, Hawaii, and Canada.

Jazz II – Mike Smith, Director

Jazz II is a full jazz ensemble that is made up of students in grades 9-12. Jazz II is a dynamic group that focuses on jazz education, proficiency, and performance through performing both classic standards and new contemporary jazz charts. Jazz II performs at several contests and festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest throughout the school year. Jazz II has had the opportunity to perform in Canada, Reno, Portland, and California.



Mt. Spokane High School Band 2010
